Position: Freight Forwarding Apprentice, Air & Sea (Logistics Associate Apprenticeship)
Location/Working hours:
• Dublin x2 / Cork x1
• 37.5 working hours
• Mon – Fri, 9am to 5:30pm
• One day paid in college ( MTU Cork , TU Dublin)
The main purpose of the job/apprenticeship:
To learn and understand the key elements of Freight Forwarding within DSV. Using the knowledge gained from your industry recognised apprenticeship and your practical working experience gained from your mentor, you will use this to become an accomplished Freight Forwarder and become an integral part of DSV’s operation and journey forward.
Key Tasks of a Trained Freight Forwarder:
You will be given training and support to enable you to be fully proficient in the below:
- Checking and Issuing necessary documentation
- Accepting and processing import/export and cross trade bookings and communication to required network and carrier partners
- Maintaining up to date visibility on all customer consignments and transit variances to adhere to customer service levels aligned to SLA’s
- Pro-active and effective resolution of all operational problems/invoice queries to maintain customer service levels aligned to SLA’s
- Pro-active liaison with network partners and suppliers to ensure timelines are met
- Customer notification and coordination of problem-solving and resolutions when required
- Ensure revenue/profit guidelines are met with budgetary requirements
- Ensure expected customer service levels are maintained at all times
- Issuing quotations, invoicing, and suppliers purchase orders. Checking and passing Suppliers invoices
- General administrative duties
Skills and Requirements:
- Excellent Problem Solving, Planning and Organising skills
- Excellent Communication/telephone skills
- Strong administrative and customer service skills
- Ability to work under pressure using own initiative
- Proficient in Microsoft Word

Applicant must meet one of the LAA programme entry criteria:
- H7/O6 or above in five leaving certificate (or equivalent) subjects. A minimum of grade O6 must be obtained in English. A minimum of grade O6 or a B2 or above in Foundation level must be obtained in mathematics
- Holders of a QQI Level 5 or Level 6 (or equivalent) in cognate areas (e.g. business, logistics and distribution, supply chain management, etc
- Applicants may also be eligible to become apprentices via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
